Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is the talk of today’s times. The advancement of scientific inventions and technologies has made our lives easier and more convenient.
A.I. is a feature of the 5th generation technology of computers. Using this feature, computers can simulate human intelligence. Today, the time has come where computers are gradually developing their intelligence and moving towards that of human beings. Earlier, computers could not think and make decisions on their own. They always needed the support of humans. Even today, A.I. verifies if its decisions are correct or right to take; otherwise, there would be a chance they would create many problems that might adversely affect the economic, social, and political conditions of a place.
A.I. has brought many changes in education, enhancing the importance of subjects like IT. A.I. has made education easier and more convenient for students studying engineering by providing practical skills and better quality learning experiences. Those studying medical science are helped by A.I. with features like three-dimensional models and virtual laboratories where students can conduct risk-free experiments. It has made the teaching-learning exchange process easier. A.I. has also widely supported teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic era with features like test paper generation and grading systems. In India, many schools and universities have AI-powered teachers that offer features like real teacher-like engagement with parents and student support, along with an automated grading system. For example, Iris (Intelligent Robot for Interactive and Smart Learning), the first AI teacher robot introduced in India, was launched on May 17, 2024. A.I. is helping students too using features such as detecting a student’s learning pace and grasping ability to teach accordingly, providing 24×7 learning facilities, offering a better learning experience at lower fees, and acting as a filter to sift through genuine study materials.
Artificial Intelligence also plays a vital role in enhancing the inclusivity and accessibility of education. By offering specialized support like text-to-speech conversion, language translation, and adaptive learning interfaces, A.I. technologies cater to students with learning obstacles. These tools enable students with different requirements to interact more efficiently with educational materials, thus ensuring equal access and fostering fairness in education.
Thus, A.I. has significantly contributed to human progress, especially in education. The years to come will definitely witness unprecedented growth and progress of human civilization with the aid of A.I.
